Natural Learning: Friends, Fun, and Freedom

Our afternoon Pre-K and Kindergarten classes, for children ages 4 1/2 through 6, provide the time and space for young people to engage with the outdoors, move their bodies and make friends. We meet each day in the afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00, Monday through Thursday.

With nearly an acre of land on the Johnson Creek Watershed, we provide ample space to connect with and enjoy the natural world. Every day children learn and play in our gardens, playscapes, and wooded areas. Our daily rhythm includes a welcoming community circle, nature-based art activities, natural science learning opportunities, gardening, physical free play, story-telling and singing. We weave seasonal celebrations throughout the year, deepening children's connection to the cycles of nature.

Children at Little House enjoy nature play and discovery in every season and in all weather. Outdoor schooling builds stamina, resilience, and a lasting reverence for the natural world. We spend much of our day outdside year-around, so children come dressed for the elements. Our unique open-air classrooms (which include heated spaces for colder days) are cozy, home-like learning environments that inspire playful, cooperative and imaginative learning. We look forward to guiding your child through the seasons.
